| Here is how to lower the energy density of your diet so you can eat more without increasing your calories. Switch to soups :You will find that even creamy soups and rich stews have lower energy than many foods. Many hospitals recommend a huge vegetable soup ( including cabbage) for weight loss. Add Bulk: By adding vegetables to pasta or casseroles or more vegies to a salad lowers the energy density. I personally have lost a pound a day by having soup and salad for lunch and supper. And shreddies with soy milk, and an orange with 2 scoops of cottage cheese for breakfast. Beat your food: Smoothies and shakes will fill you up longer the longer they are whipped. Substitute: Switch to low fat dressings, cheeses and cooking oil in recipes. I have not had regular dressing or butter in my house for years. And nobody has noticed. Do you actually want to loose at least a pound a day? For quick weight loss try this "Peel -a- pound soup" I got it September 2000 from vegweb.com, though I cannot find it on vegweb anymore. Ingredients 1 small head of cabbage 4 large onions 2 cloves of garlic diced 1 bunch celery a large green pepper a large can diced tomatoes 2 medium potatoes 4 carrots 1 box( 2 packages )of onion soup mix 3 cups of vegetable stock. Directions.............. Clean veggies and cut into medium size pieces. Add all ingredients to stockpot and finish filling with water until it just covers the vegetables. Bring to a boil,and then reduce to a simmer and cook for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.Very filling, the more you eat of it, the more you loose. I have added rutabaga, and some parsley and I like it better. I usually make only 1/2 the recipe for a 12 quart stock pot. Eat this soup between Meals. ( personally I have this for lunch.
