If your into up-lifting a space this is something you can look at.The deals can be surprisingly good. On my very first visit I found a sugar and creamer to match a Fitz and Floyd tea pot that I got as a wedding present. Needless to say you see things when your not looking for them.

The city decorators frequently hunt in these shops. Happy hunting. At the same time, negotiate a deal with them to sell your stuff.

The elegant garage sale 1588 Bayview Ave, south of Eglington 416- 322-9744

Contents for homes 94 Doncaster Ave in Thornhill 905-881-6666

Of things past 185 Bridgeland Ave 416-256-9256

ethanol fireplaces

Bergo designs at 55 Mill St. Bldg. 47A Distillery District.
This store has the answer for fireplaces that require no cleaning, no trucking of firewood, and doesn't take up valuable square footage. Ethanol fireplaces use clean burning ethanol alcohol, simple wall mounted, chimneys are not required. This ought to be a hot item with the condo dwellers.

home renovations

Hi, I don't do much shopping except for stuff for other people's houses. I have a few great places in Montreal that I use a lot. For granite/marble counter tops, Summum Granite corner of Decarie and Royalmount is terrific. They are very professional, have an amazing installer and really stand behind their work. I love Italbec on de Liege for ceramic tiles and also Club Ceramic on the 440 in Laval. For carpeting and other flooring, try Trans-Canada Carpet on Cote Vertu across from the le Bazaar Shopping Centre. Top quality new custom sofas and chairs can be made at Lorenz Upholstering on Theodore at de Rouen. Their stuff has shown up in Architectural Digest and they do Celine Dion's work (I"m not sure what kind of recommendation that is as she has dreadful taste - but I am told she is really a very nice person!).
C & M Textiles on St. Hubert is great for the general public. A wonderful plumbing supply place for the basics (this is not a fancy showroom) is Sutton Plumbing on Clifton at de Maisonneuve in NDG. Palladio on Wright has a fabulous selection of door hardware in (almost) all price ranges. They do not carry junk. And my favourite hardware place is Lee Valley Hardware which has the best customer service I have every encountered. There are outlets across the country but you can order online at www.leevalley.com or by phone. Delivery takes just a few days.

That's all for now folks!

Ciao, Alison

classic chandeliers

My friend Jo-Ann and I managed to get ourselves to Queen st.west near Roncesvale. Those interested in antiques should be interested in coming here. All the antique stores happen to be in this neck of the woods. The interior designers of the city frequent this neighbourhood. We visited Sam the chandelier man.Sam has a huge inventory of chandeliers. If he doesn't have it. No one does. It is a remarkable collection. If you need glass shades, crystal parts or classic chandeliers give him a call. 416-537-9707Here are just two that I liked.
