The very best Dollarama in town!

(you must think I am insane for posting this.) But you will understand my enthusiasm, if you go there.

The line ups here are fantastic . So, there are a lot of people that believe this fact. It was around 4 pm on a Monday,and there was 4 cashiers going, but still a 10 minute line.

A good chum took me here when we were both playing hookey. The place is south of Bloor on Yonge Street, Corner Charles St. West. The inventory is overwhelming, and the price values are astounding.

I bought 3 jewelry pouches 3,bright mini gift bags, a microfibre cleaning cloth ( supposed to be super), and 2 huge metallic curl swirls for gift wrapping. Total. $4.52 tax inc. Very easy to loose control.

With $$ being a big issue and Christmas coming, one of the fun shopping things I've done is get a couple of friends together and plan a warehouse/outlet sale, shopping spree, around the city.

You can find most of the locations by Googling bestbuys dot ca. Plan a starting point, car pool and drive a "loop". Just make sure, you all pitch in for gas and you go in the car/SUV with the most space for packages.

HOLT RENFREW /LAST CALL

It was one of those days when the power above was looking after me.I ended up in Vaughan Mills Shopping Centre at the Holt Renfrew store. Most of the ladies dresses and coats were reduced 50% off already reduced pricepoints. It looked to be a good deal.

But I must say it took me about two hours to find, try on and pay for a $385 dollar dress $89.00. Was it worth it? I think so.

If you have the time and the inclination, you can find something decent ( awesome quality, avant guard styling) at a deal. Be sure to bring your glasses as this is final sale.

Early Markdowns,"SALE" are a windfall for shoppers

It has been a difficult time for retailers for this spring. It appears people are holding on to their pockets books and creditcards.

As you all know the game, retailers have merchandise on the selling floor for hopefully 8-10 weeks and then they start lowering the price. It is absolutely imperative that by August first they start receiving fall merchandise in bulk so that for back to school they are in full swing. Therefore only 4-6 weeks left of selling ALL their spring and summer inventory.

Since this spring, sales have been weak, summer and spring "sale" have started early at least two or three weeks earlier than normal. So you all should have profited from fantastic values at little or no markup. ( the clever retailer enhances her inventory with some good buys from her vendors. So in this case she does average some markup.) Everyone tries to work together so that we all win at this game.

I always profit as I try to buy very little with markup built in. Usually I get 40%-50% off. If your a good shopper you always keep your eye on the calendar.First week end in December and Mid June are discount times so try to profit from early markdowns, look for "SALE" in your newspapers.Better still look at thegoodshopper.net calendar.

I walked into La Cache 2264 Bloor St. West and their clothing is all 50% off. Most of the gorgeous table linens are at 30% off. To be honest I am a real collector of their tablecloths and napkins. Somehow I cannot get enough. These days I have a longing for these blue provencial print napkins to go with some white and blue dinnerware. But yes then I'll have to invest in perhaps a bright blue table cloth to sit eight. There really is no end to this. So this year I'll get the napkins and then next year I'll get the tablecloth. Feel like I'm collecting my trusseau all over again.Then I'll wait in anticipation to use the treasures.

brand name shoe whse sale

A good shoe shopping opportunity. The brand name shoe sale.

Yesterday a close friend and I went over to the brand name sale. (62 Allness, Toronto)

It was held in a warehouse. Easily found as a large sign was visible from the street. Give yourself time as there is lots of inventory of really beautiful shoes. Many customers were busy trying things on. We saw mostly women walking out with several boxes.

I am a sucker for shoes and did buy a Mephisto sandal. Looks quite-like a Birkenstock except it has patent straps with beaded buttons. A clever concept in my humble opinion. An ageless basic made into fashion. There was quite a huddle over this style as a large contingency of Asian teenagers were busy looking for their size. Lots of staff was available and were quite willing to help, though certainly not everysize was obtainable in every style. Though I think you can have them phone if they get in something that you want. It's a good shoe shopping opportunity.

The one and only Talbots outlet store is at Colossus,on Famous Ave., hiway7/weston rd. 905-850-1001. All the 8 other stores in Canada ship their inventory to this store. This sale is unbelievable. Happens twice a year. Sept and June. Store is jammed with people on the first day. The sale is usually on for 4 or 5 days. But if you are a size 12 I'd rush. Be very patient there are only 6 fitting rooms.

I have bought shoes at 9.99 regular $75 and pants for 24.99 regular $90.00

Best part, if your not happy, you can bring it back to any Canadian Talbots. Petit, regular, and oversize available.

I bumped into a stranger in the library who complemented me on my turquoise outfit. I revealed the secret of the Jones of New York outlet. SHE, shared the information regarding, Sears Days 2nd or 3rd week in September, saturday and sunday 7 to 11 AM. Merchandise tagged at 40% off is further reduced at the cash register another 40% off.

Muttered something about being in aquatics and bought bathing suits and ski jackets and tons of "ALIA". WOW

These bargain days are worth looking into.(I suspect there must be one in February)

At 7171 Yonge St., North of Doncaster. there is a shopkeeper that used to carry jewelry. She now has gone into reverse osmosis water purifying systems.

She is getting rid of her Jewelry inventory. Yesterday I managed to get 4 earings at about 70% off. Really very beautiful. I believe its mostly sterling silver. If you have a yen for some pretty pieces this is worth a look.
